Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate

Kristen received her Master's degree from Regent University and is licensed through the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors as an LCMHCA (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counseling Associate) License #A20999. She has received specialized training in TBRI (Trust Based Relational Intervention), ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and TheraPlay.

Kristen began her mental health journey by becoming a therapeutic-level foster/adoptive parent in 2018. She subsequently was trained in TBRI, providing her with trauma-informed and connection-based perspectives that helped cultivate healing and growth in those she serves. After being introduced to the power of playful engagement and understanding the nervous system/brain connection she is passionate about collaborating with parents to help find peace, healing, and wholeness in their children. With additional experience providing professional peer grief counseling and wrap-around care to Military Loss Families, Kristen holds space for serving clients with grief and loss as part of their story.

Kristen's warm and welcoming approach aims to create an intentional space in which clients feel understood and supported. Her scope of practice includes but is not limited to: anxiety, grief, trauma, OCD, ADD/ADHD, academic and social stress, self-regulation, self-image/esteem, and behavioral concerns. Kristen can also offer faith integration upon request through a Christian perspective. Kristen integrates games, play and art into sessions for all ages!

Kristen lives in Raleigh and loves spending time with her adopted daughter, hiking with her two pups, drinking boba and matcha lattes, and visiting new places!
