Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate
James is a Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of North Carolina (License #20098A). He is a UNC graduate, and spent seven years working in Durham as a middle school math teacher and soccer coach. He has also enjoyed short stints in construction, landscaping and IT. In 2023 he graduated from Southeastern Seminary with a Master of Arts in Marriage, Family & Individual Counseling.

Counseling with James will likely include exploration of family history and identification of unhealthy thought patterns. He incorporates techniques from modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. His upbringing in West Africa has given him an appreciation for diverse cultures, which informs his therapeutic approach. He also uses the Gottman Method and Prepare/Enrich, for working with couples

James works with couples, teens, and individuals. His counseling interests include marriage and premarital counseling, life transitions, depression, anxiety, religious hurt/trauma, stress management and cross cultural dynamics.
